Fun, Sun and Sand

Standard

Wow!  It’s been two months since I’ve posted last.  They say time flies when you’re having fun, but that excuse is only for the first week that I was away.  My family and I went on a wonderful vacation to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina that was oodles of fun.  I especially had fun with my daughter jumping waves for hours each day.  We had taken her to the beach when was very young and she *hated* the waves!  This trip I could barely drag her out of the waves and it gave me the warm fuzzies to see how much joy she found on the beach.

Unfortunately, that wonderful family time was followed up by a long bout of a yet-to-be officially diagnosed nerve issues that are cause me to lose feeling in my left hand.  No fun.

But, fortunately, I am not left-hand dominant, so I am still able to color and create.  Here’s my tribute to our happy little vacation.  And if you take a fancy to it and must have one of your own, just “Click to Shop” on the sidebar and pick it up in my brand spanking new Handmade by Amazon shop.

Notes for a Friend

Standard

On a visit to our local and wonderful art shoppe, The Queen’s Ink, my daughter picked up this adorable House Mouse Stamp. These little meeses are so cute and I love how they’ve worked together to share the blueberries. After she colored it a few times, I decided to give it a go and this all-occasion card was born.

Faith, Hope & Love

Standard

Cupcake Inspirations threw me for a loop again this week with a Navy Blue/Gold/White challenge.  These are all colors that I would normally work with, but I was struggling with how to use them all together as the emphasis, so much so that I almost scrapped the challenge altogether.  Then I received my new stamp set from Darkroom Door and the idea for this card was born.  The sentiment of “Faith…Hope…Love” was so perfect, but didn’t lend itself to a colored image as the focal point, so this project is a bit different from what I would normally create.  I had a very specific layout in mind and I couldn’t find exactly what I had pictured in my head, so I ended up hand-cutting the gold anchor. Even though this card was a bit out of my comfort zone, I am super happy with the results.

Imagine Something Wonderful

“I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge. That myth is more potent than history. That dreams are more powerful than facts. That hope always triumphs over experience. That laughter is the only cure for grief. And I believe that love is stronger than death.”
― Robert Fulghum, All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten

This lovely passage inspired me to create a card that honors imagination.  I love the adorable Pegacorn, the fluffy clouds and the little bit of sparkle.

Just Because

Standard

Today was one of those days, nothing particularly fantastic happened, but nothing particularly icky happened either, so I should thank my lucky stars for that.  After the normal evening routine and getting the kids to bed, I decided tonight was a night to color just because.  I’ve had this great stamp set from Newton’s Nook Designs for a little over a week and I was itching to work with it.  I have to love a company that is named after a kitty.  With four of my own kitties here at home, I was challenged to color a likeness of one of  them.
